Betsy is back on the ground after spending nearly a month in the UK with our youngest daughter. That means its time to catch up on all the tasks that were sidelined while she was gone, prepare for Christmas, and make ourselves ready for spring.

Spring, here we come!

It is hard to overstate how excited we are that we are on track to get our sugarhouse done and be ready to catch sugaring season this year. Dave just picked up this load of galvanized sap buckets in Vermont. We'll be sugaring the old-fashioned way-- with buckets gathered by horsepower!

Welcome to Fawksey!

Our Jersey heifer Ginger recently had her calf; a Jersey and Red Devon cross heifer.

Fawksey is named for the infamous Guy Fawkes, since she was born on Bonfire night, when he is still burned in effigy in England. The calf is healthy and milking her mother is going well.

Firewood

Our perennial winter task. We'll be cutting firewood periodically to keep the stove burning in the house. There's just never enough time in the summer to get it all in and besides; sometimes the trees are easier to get out when the ground is frozen!

Keeping the Stand Stocked

Stop by the Hill Place driveway and you'll see our new and improved farm stand is up and running! The job now is to keep it stocked-- we have a few more hens who should start laying in the next couple weeks. Our meat availability and prices are available on our website and on the board at the farm stand. Come check it out!
