Get ready for some big changes to Hill Place Farm! We have plans in hand for a new and improved driveway. As we do the clearing prep for that, we're also making way for more Christmas trees, flower fields, and the long-awaited Hill Place farm store.

Clearing a few fence lines too, while we're at it.

The perfect winter food; Beef Stew!

The groundhog may have promised an early spring, but we're not quite there yet. One of the best ways to warm up after you've been out working in the cold (like we have been) is with a steaming bowl of beef stew. You can order your Hill Place stew meat on our website, or ask for it when you stop in! (Stew meat is sold in roughly 1lb packages for $7/lb).

Winter Animal Feed

One of the realities of farming in the Northeast is the lack of pasture for much of the year. We use pasture heavily in the summer months, for all our livestock, but that means that this time of year we have to get a bit more creative. So what are our pigs eating to keep them fed and growing? A bit of everything! Right now we're feeding hay, veggie scraps from the kitchen, cornmeal, and our secret ingredient; fresh milk!

Gardens Incoming

Unbelievable though it may seem, the time to get the first vegetable seeds started is upon us. Fortunately, we have already set

up tables of grow lights in our basement, so we're ready to go!

Another Year Missed...

Sadly, given our current to do list, it doesn't look like we'll be getting our sugaring equipment set up in time for this spring. While we love sugaring and miss it immensely, right now it just makes more sense to focus our energies on more pressing tasks. Fingers crossed for next year!
