The theme on the farm lately is "mud." It's slowing up our chores, dirtying our dogs, and providing endless distractions (and outfit changes) for our granddaughters. It's always expected this time of year, but never our favorite part of spring.

Easter Sunday
Did you know that you can dye brown eggs? While they won't color as dramatically as white eggs, they will give you a rustic, homemade sort of look that is actually very in vogue! Skip buying a box of white ones at the store just to color.Hill Place eggs available again after a long winter, $5/dozen self-serve on the porch.
To color at home all you need to do is add 1tsp of vinegar to 1/2 cup of boiling water and food coloring to your preference. Soak your egg for several minutes in the dye solution before you remove.
Colored hard boiled eggs can easily turn into devilled eggs for your Easter spread!
Maple Doughnuts
Limited quantities of our hit maple doughnuts will also be available to fill your Easter baskets.1 dozen for $10 or 6 for $5 for maple glazed and $5 for a dozen plain doughnuts. Pre-orders only, pickup early Easter weekend.

Construction Ongoing
Our power tools have been hard at work for the past week. We started into installing new hardwood floors in the kitchen of the farmhouse. This disrupted our lives a bit more than we expected with the kitchen torn apart, but it did give us some nice reclaimed boards to make our new chick-growing pen out of. This pen will let us move our newly feathered laying hen chicks out to the barn; and will set us up perfectly for the batch of broilers that we have coming!

If you haven't already, check us out on YouTube at Hill Place NH. Our farm videos showcase more of the work we've been up to and are edited and put together by our videographer daughter.
Everyone Getting in on the Action!
Even our girls' old childhood pony is getting back to work lately! He's dusted off his saddle so that he can help us give riding lessons to our grandchildren. His attitude hasn't improved since the old days though.
